Averitt has been recognized by Viqtory as one of the most military friendly employers in the country for 2023, marking the seventh time we have received this acknowledgement. Averitt has also received the Military Spouse Friendly Employers® award from Viqtory this year. We are thrilled to have received these honors and are proud of our Averitt military veterans and their spouses.
Viqtory, a military marketing company with a mission to connect veterans to civilian opportunities, conducts annual surveys to highlight companies that support veterans, their spouses, other members of the military community, and their families in transitioning from the military to the civilian world. This year, Averitt has been recognized as a Military Friendly® Company and a Military Spouse Friendly Employer.
Averitt is very proud to receive the designation as a 2023 Military Spouse Friendly Employer. This award assesses companies across the country and identifies those committed to recruiting, hiring, and supporting military spouses. We are honored to be recognized as an employer that provides ample opportunity to military spouses for long-term career growth and success. Averitt is continually dedicated to creating a culture that supports military spouses as they work to support their own families.
Averitt is a perfect fit to receive the designation as one of Viqtory's Military Friendly Companies. The annual survey identifies companies that are committed to hiring veterans and providing them with opportunities for growth. Our team comprises veterans from every branch of the military, and each year we aim to add more veterans to our team. Viqtory's annual survey also identifies companies that are comprehensive in their dedication to military veterans. From our commitment to hiring veterans to creating a culture that best supports our nation's service members, Averitt's support for veterans is wide in scope. We feel every veteran deserves to work for a company that values their service, and we're proud to be a place our nation's service members can call home.
Based on a survey of our associates, just over 50% of our military veterans served in the Army, followed by the Navy with 16.49%. The third- and fourth-highest number of veterans were in the Marine Corps with 13.95% and the Air Force with 13.53%. We also have veterans from the National Guard (10.36%) and Coast Guard (1.69%). Overall, approximately 15% of our workforce is made up of veterans, representing hundreds of Averitt associates.
You'll feel right at home at Averitt because we appreciate the value of presenting a professional, uniformed appearance to the world. That's why we created a Uniformity
program that includes an allowance to purchase uniform items. All drivers, dock associates and mechanics wear uniforms to showcase our commitment to a professional appearance. And at Averitt, we've built a culture of support and structure so that our associates can build strong careers and grow. We have hundreds of career possibilities where your individual skills can be applied, and you can excel. Once you find your place across our multiple U.S. business units and facilities, you can achieve opportunities for promotion from within, allowing your career to grow and change alongside your professional needs.
Averitt is committed to being a company that supports our country's veterans and to add more military veterans, and their spouses, to our team each year. If you're a veteran or a military spouse looking for a company that values and supports you, take a look at Averitt, a company that has been consistently recognized for its support of veterans and their families.
