Do you enjoy working with your hands and solving challenging problems? Are you looking for a career that has endless opportunities for your future? Do you want to work for a company that is safety-focused and committed to seeing you succeed? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then joining the Averitt team as a diesel mechanic sounds like a great career for you!
"Averitt is a good company to work for that's stable, has a good environment and offers all the latest equipment," says Randy Duke, one of our maintenance associates. He's been working with us for 36 years.
We're known for our clean and safe shops that are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment and technology to help you diagnose and troubleshoot issues. As one of our diesel mechanics, you'll work on only Averitt equipment, which means you'll be working on modern, low-mileage trucks and equipment you're familiar with. There's also no roadside work. Another thing that sets us apart is the fact that we provide uniforms for our mechanics and clean them regularly for you too! It's no wonder why you'll meet many associates who have been working with us for decades.
"Everybody here is kind of like family," says Darrell Bohannon, a maintenance associate who has been with us for 29 years. "We've all been here for a long time."
At Averitt, we have a great reputation for promoting from within. It's something we've committed to because we know that the best person for the job is often already somewhere on our team. In the last three years, we've promoted 239 associates from within our company to other roles.
"There are opportunities for advancement in multiple different ways," says Shane Nelson, one of our maintenance coordinators. "Averitt enjoys promoting from within."
Diesel mechanic jobs at Averitt offer competitive pay based on how long they're on the clock, not just how many hours they spend fixing an issue. If you're on our team of mechanics, you can expect to get evaluated for raises every 90 days. You'll also have access to all the great benefits our other associates love about Averitt, including our profit-sharing plan, 401k plan, health coverage and more.
