Are you looking for a way to start a rewarding career in the transportation industry? Our Dock-to-Driver Training Program offers an exceptional opportunity to transition from working on the dock to driving on the open road. This program equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to earn your CDL-A while providing hands-on experience and top-tier benefits that set you up for long-term success.

What is Our Dock-to-Driver Program?

Our Dock-to-Driver Training Program, which currently has 215 successful graduates, allows you to get paid to work on the dock while learning the skills you need to earn your CDL. You'll receive top pay and outstanding benefits, including medical insurance, 401k, and profit sharing, along with one-on-one instruction from an Averitt driver trainer. This program offers a jumpstart on a career path with endless possibilities and opportunities for growth.

How Does it Work?

Getting started with our Dock-to-Driver program and embarking on a successful, satisfying driving career is easy. Here's how it works:

  1. Join the Team: Start your journey as a dock associate.
  2. Express Interest: Inform your Service Center Director about your desire to earn your CDL-A.
  3. Training: Depending on your experience, you'll receive tailored training. If you're new to the field, you'll undergo four weeks (20 days) of comprehensive training with a local driver trainer.
  4. Earn While You Learn: Enjoy top dock wages during your training period.
  5. Become Qualified: After completing your training, you'll become a CDL-A qualified dock associate, ready for open driving positions, provided you're at least 21 years old.
  6. Increase in Pay: Your pay rate will increase to a CDL-A qualified dock rate, with the potential for further growth.
  7. Reimbursement: We cover the fees for your CDL, hazmat, tanker, and TWIC certifications.

"The trainers were supportive and helpful in preparing me for the written and road skills tests. I love this company because it's more than a job. Coming in every morning doesn't feel like an obligation; my coworkers are more like family. The Dock-to-Driver program is a great way to build a career."

Earn While You Learn: You'll enjoy top dock wages while undergoing training, reducing financial strain during your career transition. Once you get behind the wheel, you'll start earning industry-leading pay backed by opportunities for bonuses and career advancement.

Joseph Anderson, who joined our team in 2014, says, "I'm a prime example of Averitt promoting from within. I left the dock and moved into driving; I wouldn't have done it without this program. Averitt invests in its associates."

Family-Oriented, Professional Work Environment: Experience a family-oriented, professional, and supportive work culture where your growth and success are prioritized.

Dajae Williams, who started in 2020, appreciates the program's flexibility. "The program allowed me to get home and be with my daughter. Averitt is a great place to start a career and then grow in that career."
