We’re excited to give you an up-close look into the world of our driver recruiting team! Driver recruiters play a vital role in shaping our driving force and are an essential part of a driver’s journey to joining our team. But who exactly are our driver recruiters?
Let's meet Angie Tollison, a Driver Recruiter with nine years of experience, and take a deeper dive into the world of Averitt's recruiting process.
Watch Angie's introduction video and read her interview below.
How do you approach recruiting? What is your style?
Angie: With each new recruit, I see it as an opportunity not only to add a quality driver to our team but also to offer them a better career opportunity. I make it a priority to get to know them and understand their wants and needs and truly listen to what they have to say.
What gets you excited about recruiting at Averitt?
Angie: It's exciting to work for a company that truly believes drivers are the backbone of our success. Every day, I'm motivated to find the best fit for our team, knowing that we can offer drivers more home time, better pay, and a great work environment.
How do you measure your own success as a recruiter?
Angie: I measure my success in the quality of the drivers I bring to the team rather than just quantity. I feel successful when I know that I have hired a good quality driver that will help us continue to succeed as part of our team, but that feeling is increased when I know I've helped a driver find a great work home with us.
What is something about Averitt that you can't wait to tell recruits?
Angie: Drivers often tell me they've felt like just another number at previous employers. At Averitt, our drivers are far from just a number - they are our backbone. I can't wait to tell them how we truly do care about our drivers, how they are valued, and how we treat our drivers with respect. Plus, all the perks that go along with joining the team. I also get excited to talk about how much we value honest communication - it's something we really practice every day.
What advice do you have for recruits considering a career with Averitt?
Angie: I remember at my first driver orientation, the presenter said, "You're here now, and that means you're among the best of the best." That really stuck with me, and I saw it resonate with the drivers in the room. While our hiring process may take a little time, it's because we want to ensure it's the right fit for both you and Averitt. We stay in touch with you throughout the process, so there's no need to worry if it takes a bit longer - it's all part of making sure this is the perfect match for everyone.
