How do you approach recruiting? What is your style?
Krystal: I truly enjoy interacting with drivers—providing them with all the details, answering their questions, and following up when I don’t have an immediate answer and need to do some research. If I don’t know something, I’m honest about it, find out the answer, and make sure to follow up.
I also believe it’s crucial not to make promises you can’t keep. So, when I say I’ll try to do something, I make sure I do it. Even something as simple as saying "I’ll call you back" means a lot to drivers—many don’t believe it until I actually do. In a world so vast, this is how I believe I make a difference—one driver at a time.
What gets you excited about recruiting at Averitt?
Krystal: People are the driving force of Averitt, and we truly take care of our people. As one of the first points of contact, I know how important it is to make a lasting impression. I’m not just offering a job—I’m offering a lifestyle, better pay, more home time, and great benefits. Every driver has a unique story and background, but I have yet to hear one that Averitt doesn’t have a solution for. That’s what excites me—connecting drivers with an experience that truly supports them.
How do you measure your own success as a recruiter?
Krystal: I measure my success in a few ways—when drivers thank me after I check in with them 30 days after their hire date, or when they know they can call or text me anytime, good or bad, and I’ll be there for them. The greatest sense of accomplishment comes when they recognize the effort I put in, appreciate that I go above and beyond, and tell me I’m different from any other recruiter they’ve met. That’s when I know I’ve truly made an impact. That's when I feel the most successful.
What is something about Averitt that you can't wait to tell recruits?
Krystal: Of course, I’m excited to share all the benefits Averitt offers its associates, including affordable health, dental, and vision coverage.
