While the global pandemic has had a dramatic impact on just about everyone and everything, it hasn't dampened the giving spirit of the Averitt team. Despite the challenges of social distancing and sheltering in place, our associates have continued to participate in our Team Up Community Challenge in creative ways.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that must include our associates' hearts! Several teams there have found ways to show The Power of One to our communities.
Our Dallas team was busy with a couple of Team Up projects. These included sending personalized notes of encouragement to residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, and delivering 1,210 pounds of food to Mission Arlington, and cash for the purchase of even more food.
Meanwhile, our Beaumont team participated in a food drive for the Southeast Texas Food Bank. We donated more than 250 meals and made a $100 donation to the organization!
Not to be outdone, our El Paso teammates volunteered at the El Paso County Coliseum in partnership with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. Every associate had a station and distributed food to the families as they drove through the coliseum in their vehicles. Families came in with their trunks open, and each work station placed items in their vehicles as they passed by, eliminating physical contact.
As El Paso service center director Bobby Davis says, "It just goes to show that you can still find ways to volunteer during COVID-19 times."
Team Up exemplifies the spirit our Averitt family has demonstrated when working together to give back to our local communities. It signifies how we work together to accomplish goals for our customers and our communities. Team Up also signifies our commitment to help others succeed through local community involvement, and the ongoing donation match back to Averitt Cares for Kids.
