The holiday season is an ideal time to give special attention to the contributions of those who have impacted our lives and to give back wherever possible. Our team did just that on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, by proudly helping Wreaths Across America honor our nation's veteran with a wreath sponsorship to show support for this important tribute to the sacrifices of fallen servicemen and women. Participating in Wreaths Across America, an annual industry highpoint, was a poignant and touching addition to our continual commitment to give back to our communities.

It was a day set aside to lay wreaths at the places where we remember, honor and teach about our veterans: cemeteries, monuments, parks. While many observe Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, Averitt and Wreaths Across America recognize that service members sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year to preserve our freedoms.

This is why we also encouraged all of our associates to volunteer to lay wreaths as well if they were able. Wreaths Across America honors locations in all 50 states, saying, "From the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts, our veterans are devoted sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, sisters and brothers. They come from all backgrounds in life to place those lives on the line for our freedoms. There are millions of individual stories to tell."

Our sponsorship enabled Wreaths Across America to provide hand-crafted wreaths to cemeteries where a volunteer placed it on the marker of a fallen hero. That volunteer then said a few words, including the hero's name, to ensure that their legacy of duty, service and sacrifice is never forgotten.

At Averitt, our philosophy of "Our Driving Force is People" extends beyond our customers and associates. We believe in generously giving back to our communities, which include our brave men and women in the military! We are proud to have been a part of the annual Wreaths Across America event.
