Averitt’s Dock-to-Driver Training Program is an exciting opportunity to grow your knowledge of the transportation industry. With this on-the-job training program, you get paid to work on the dock while learning the skills to earn your CDL. Here’s how it works:

• Join the team as a dock associate.

• Express an interest in obtaining your CDL-A to your service center director.

• If you have your CDL already, we will determine the amount of training based off your driving verifications.

• If you have no experience, you will go through 4 weeks (20 days) of training with a local driver trainer. You must have your permit.

• You will receive top dock wages during training.

• Upon completion of training, you will become a CDL-A qualified dock associate and must be willing to drive when requested by leadership and will be considered for open driving positions as they become available.

• Your pay rate will increase to a CDL-A qualified dock rate (which is halfway between top dock and city wages for the market).

• You will be reimbursed for your CDL, hazmat, tanker, and TWIC fees where applicable.
