Averitt Giving
Supporting our communities is a vital part of our team's heritage
The Power of Giving Back
Since 1986, Averitt associates have donated millions of dollars and tens of thousands of hours to make a difference in people’s lives.
Whether through helping kids and their families, feeding the hungry, assisting our storm-ravaged neighbors, or donating thousands of clothing items to our charity partners, we never stop looking for ways to give back.
Averitt Cares for Kids
The mission of Averitt Cares for Kids is to give back to our communities and help make a difference in the lives of others. In an effort to focus entirely on children, we updated the name of the program in 2007 from “Averitt Cares” to “Averitt Cares for Kids.” In doing so, we pledged that all future contributions will benefit causes that improve and save the lives of children, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Since 1986, Averitt Cares for Kids has donated over $15 million to charities.
Averitt Cares for Kids is a nonprofit charitable giving organization funded by and on behalf of our associates. Since 1986, Averitt associates have touched the lives of the less fortunate through this program.
The organization is funded through associate contributions, as well as through company contributions made in recognition of associates' accomplishments, participation in Team Up Community Challenge projects, and life events. Associates elect to have $1-per-week contributions deducted from their payroll on a weekly basis.
Team Up Community Challenge
Through our Team Up Community Challenge, we volunteer with organizations throughout our local communities – a process that’s served 200+ organizations in over 100 communities in just the past year.
Team Up exemplifies the spirit our Averitt family has demonstrated when working together to give back to our local communities. It signifies how we work together to accomplish goals for our customers and our communities.
How the Program Works:
-
Each facility plans its own events and chooses its own local organizations to serve
-
Associates serve in groups of at least two associates
-
Hours donated are matched by the company's contributions to Averitt Cares for Kids
Uniform Recycling
We are deeply committed to giving back. Several years ago, when looking for a way to ramp up our giving efforts, we partnered with Matthew 25 Ministries – a humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization that rescues and reuses products to help people all around the world.
Every shirt our associates donate to be recycled goes to them – where it’s de-branded and passed on to those who need it most. And while the immediate humanitarian aid is by far the most important aspect of the contribution, the impact is felt in many other ways as well.
Charitable Contributions
Our philosophy of "Our Driving Force is People" extends beyond our customers and associates.
We believe in generously giving back to the communities that have supported us through the years.
